ABOUT MATERIALS

At Inédita Matéria, materials are not chosen from perfection, they are chosen for presence.

We work with elements that carry time, transformation, and memory. Each piece is a meeting point between what once was and what it can become again. Organic, raw, and reimagined, our materials are selected for their ability to hold both history and possibility.

Sourcing

We are a local jewelry brand based in Lisbon, Portugal.

Our pieces are designed and produced in our showroom and atelier at Avenida Miguel Bombarda, 106 in Lisbon.

Our materials are selected with intention, guided by origin, character, and the relationships we build over time with local suppliers from the Iberian Peninsula. Each collection category reflects a distinct geography and a way of working that values proximity, traceability, and respect for both natural resources and human craft.

Orangerie

For Orangerie, we source orange peels from the Iberian Peninsula, primarily from small suppliers in Portugal. Warm-toned elements, colors and textures are chosen for their vibrancy and softness, echoing authentic landscapes where nature and culture coexist in balance.

Casa da Seda

Casa da Seda is rooted in Beira Baixa in Portugal. We work with a local partner in the center of Portugal, where a long-standing silk textile tradition continues to inform traditional craft and contribute to contemporary jewelry making. Materials are sourced in close proximity to production, allowing for a more attentive and responsible process.

Jacaranda

The Jacaranda collection draws from southern Jacarandá trees, originally from Brazilian origin, where the tree lends both its name and its tonal inspiration. Over history, these trees have been well-adapted to the Portuguese climate and have become a staple tree in the Portuguese culture that embelishes every street in May.

Amber & other resins

Our amber is sourced from the Baltic region, with a focus on Poland. These deposits, formed over millions of years, offer a wide range of tones and natural inclusions. Other resins come from local Iberian trees collected locally in the region of Alentejo.

Fine Stones & Minerals

Our fine stones and minerals are sourced through specialized partners across India & Asia. Chosen for their natural color and raw cut, stones are valued for their raw shapes, favoring character over uniformity and ensuring no two pieces are ever alike.

Alumen

Aluminium is chosen for its lightness, precision, and quiet strength.

We source our aluminium within Europe, working with specialized suppliers who prioritize quality and responsible production. A significant portion comes from recycled material, reducing the need for extraction while maintaining the same structural integrity and refined finish.

Its surface carries a soft luminosity—cooler than silver, yet equally expressive. It allows for clarity of form and a certain architectural sharpness, balancing the organic nature of our other materials.

Resistant, lightweight, and infinitely recyclable, aluminium reflects a more contemporary dimension of our work: one that values innovation alongside continuity.

Sterling Silver

Sterling silver is used with intention, reserved for the elements that meet the skin most closely.

We work with 925 sterling silver, selected for its purity, strength, and reliability. Its role within our pieces is precise: to form the ear hooks that ensure comfort, balance, and ease of wear.

Sourced through trusted partners in Europe, our silver meets high standards of quality and traceability. Its luminous surface offers a quiet contrast to the richness of our other materials, without drawing attention away from them. Over time, sterling silver may develop a natural patina. This evolution is subtle and can be gently restored.

Silver & 22k Gold Plating

Our metallic finishes are applied with precision, bringing warmth or luminosity to each piece without overpowering its composition.

We use silver and 22k gold plating to enhance selected elements, creating subtle contrasts in tone and light. The gold we apply, 22 karats, offers a rich, deep hue that feels both soft and enduring, while silver plating introduces a cooler, more understated brightness.

Applied in fine layers over a base material, our platings are chosen for their ability to bring nuance, depth, and a refined sense of contrast.
